Dr. Sarah Rovang

AI can be a powerful tool when it comes to building interactive data visualizations and online dashboards. If you are new to using AI tools for evaluation work or are in the process of expanding your skillset, this session will provide a step-by-step walkthrough of how to turn your data into a user-friendly online dashboard.

We'll be using Claude Pro's Cowork tool for our practice dashboard during the session but will also talk through how to use free models such as Co-Pilot and the free tiers of popular LLMs. We'll conclude with some useful conceptual approaches to operating as an evaluator in today's rapidly evolving landscape of AI.

About the Speaker

Dr. Sarah Rovang is a program evaluator at the New Mexico Legislative Finance Committee. In addition to day-to-day evaluation activities, she leads training initiatives for the team and has recently been building many dashboards (check out the New Mexico Student Proficiency Dashboard and the Pathways to Prosperity Dashboard). In another life, Dr. Rovang was an academic historian of art and architecture. Her first book, Through the Long Desert: Georgia O'Keeffe and Frank Lloyd Wright, was released by Rizzoli Electa in 2025.
