Breakout Session: Evaluating Organizational Performance
To those who lead organizations, performance means creating valued business results - results that advance the organization’s strategic objectives. As a leader, it is critical to show that you are a good steward of the organizations’ resources, that you have created a positive impact. This is particularly important (and challenging) with human resource and organizational development (HR/OD) efforts like training. Increasingly, leaders are insisting that impact evaluations be done as part of any project life cycle.
This entry-level session introduces four impact measurement frameworks currently in common use. We will do a “drive by” of these approaches by comparing and contrasting them. The big objective here is to elevate your awareness of these methods, help you become conversant about them, and connect you to resources where you can learn more.
- Explain why leaders need to know the impact of HR/OD projects
- Discuss aligning learning metrics with business metrics
- Understand why HR/OD specialists must speak the language of business
- Become familiar with the basics of:
- Kirkpatrick’s 4 Levels of Evaluation
- Phillips ROI (Return on Investment)
- The Kirkpatrick ROE (return on expectations)
- Brinkerhoff’s SCM (Success Case Method) & how it can be used for ROI projections
